When I tell people I run a biologic, holistic and integrative dentistry, they look at me cross-eyed.
But let me summarize what all that means, in simple terms:
People are highly chemically-sensitive in subtle ways to many things in their environment.
A biologic, holistic, and integrative dentistry attempts to reduce as many of the causes of these sensitivities in their office.
Here are some things we consider:
Things as simple as what is used to clean and sterilze areas people can sometimes have reactions to.
Being around mercury is rarely a good idea. We are a mercury-free practice in that we don’t use mercury fillings, and the way that we remove mercury fillings is done safely for everyone.
Many people are concerned about BPAs and other issues surrounding certain plastics. Some of our crowns are made out of plastic, but we consider this and use the safest ones.
Porcelain crowns are fused to metal in most cases in the base. So if you have allergies to berillium, or nickel for example, this can be an issue.
If you’re concerned about allergies or sensitivies to common dental materials, we offer biocompatibility tests. This involves a lab running your blood to see if you have allergies to any of many dental materials we could possibly use in your teeth.
28-60% of the population have some sort of thyroid disease. Our practice is aware of this and we try to reduce the use of materials that are known to exacerbate thyroid issues.
